Now We Are Six

Six years ago today it was about 40 degrees warmer outside than it is today, but the little creature who came to be born and named Adelaide was still not convinced it was a good idea to leave her cozy womb and face the bright lights, big city. But come she did, with the help of a surgeon and a giant team of wonderful people. And today, we enjoyed the fact that she has six years of loving life behind her and many more to come. This morning, after our 5 a.m. wake-up (of course) and an hour or so of negotiating, and a big cup of coffee, we started with presents. Why wait? We listened to her new music and did a little dancing, and then Adelaide tried out her new drawing books. She chose her new dress from Grandma and Grandpa to wear to school on her special day.
We went out for chocolate chip pancakes on the way to school, and after lunch at school Dad brought the birthday girl's requested treat of brownies and chocolate milk for the class. After school was our usual Friday plus some fun presents and cards that came in the mail today. Adelaide loved everything, and has already become very attached to her new doll from Uncle Dave and Aunt Annie. She has named her Francois and apparently she can only speak French.

More celebrations yet to come this weekend, but all in all, a very happy birthday was had by all.
